Student Coaching
Our team of educators provide executive function coaching to students who need support in managing their self, time, materials, and people. Students who struggle with executive functioning often struggle with organization, planning, prioritizing, time management, memory, flexible thinking, task initiation, emotional regulation, impulse control, and self-monitoring.
Whether your child is struggling to complete homework on time, forgets or loses materials, has difficulty staying on task, starting tasks independently, or fails to turn in completed homework, executive function coaching can help support them in developing a system and routine that is sustainable, allowing them to become independent learners and thinkers.
Coaching sessions focus on review of current class assignments and tasks, homework prioritization and completion, backpack/materials organization, grade monitoring, test preparation, study skills, behavior monitoring on progress towards goals, & more depending on individual needs
Assessment, Evaluation, & Program Development
The first step in the coaching process is completing an Executive Functioning Assessment. The assessment is completed by the primary caregiver and explores individual challenges the student is experiencing in relation to the skills that fall under the umbrella of executive functioning. The assessment is completed and submitted online and will take 25 minutes or so to complete. In addition to the assessment, parents are highly encouraged to provide further documentation including: neuropsych evaluations, IEP Plans, 504 Plans, Grade Reports, andTeacher Feedback Forms.
Based on the assessment results and support documentation, a program will be developed to structure student coaching sessions in an efficient and effective manner that address individual challenges, monitor student progress, and prepare students to develop sustainable skills to become independent, self-directed learners.
An evaluation report will be provided on level of improvement needed for each executive function category, specific skill sets that need to be addressed, clearly outlined goals to work towards, and how each area reported as needing improvement will be addressed throughout sessions.
