Parent Coaching

Executive function refers to a set of skills that build the foundation for learning and adapting to changes throughout the life span.

The skills that fall under the umbrella of executive function enable students to take an active role in their education, allowing them to become independent learners and thinkers.

Would My Child Benefit?

Children often present a unique set of challenges that can be overwhelming for parents to navigate alone. Executive Function Coaching is available for parents who need support in guiding their child to independence allowing them to lead successful and fulfilling lives. The coaching process avoids blaming and judgement and instead provides support and guidance that leads to empowerment.

What Will You Do?

Through the coaching relationship, parents will be able to create conditions for their child to succeed, modify their home to enable effective habits and essential executive functioning skills, develop a framework to provide an organizational system that serves their lifestyle, utilize tools and techniques to manage challenges, and feel prepared to implement effective behavioral and academic interventions.

How Does It Work?

Parent coaching sessions can run for 45 minutes on average. Sessions can be done via phone, via zoom video conferencing, or in office. It is recommended to start with 2 sessions per week, scaling back to 1 once progress is established.

Session reports are provided at the end of each session and cover objectives met during session, action plan, and learning & application.

How do we get started?

The first step is to schedule a free phone consultation where we will discuss the individual challenges your child is experiencing. Any relevant documentation such as IEP/504 plans, neuropsych evaluations, or grade reports will also be utilized to better understand where the student needs the most support.

From there a program will be developed to structure parent coaching sessions in an efficient and effective manner that address individual challenges, monitor student progress, and prepare students to develop sustainable skills to become independent, self-directed learners.
